Walla Walla’s ANZAC Day Commemoration started with the Dawn Service at 5.45 am attended by around 80 people.
A helicopter flyover by Forrestair in a Vietnam era 1963 Bell UH1-B Iroquois helicopter in honour of our Vietnam Veterans preceded the march. This year the flag bearer led our two light horses, ridden by Julie Barber and Larissa Schilg. We also had our military contingent, Scots School Pipe and Drums, Nasho’s, Red Cross, local schools and the Walla Fire Truck at the rear of the march.
The main service commenced with the installation of the catafalque party and our guest speaker Lt. David Edwards spoke about the Vietnam War. Wreaths were laid and poppies distributed in the hedge by the Walla Walla Public School. At the conclusion of the service we were treated to a motorcycle cavalcade of 300 bikes raising money for Legacy. What a sight to behold!
