ZION, WALLA WALLA 100th Anniversary
The Zion Lutheran Church, built by Hardy Brother builders of Wagga Wagga, celebrated its centenary, having been dedicated on the same date in 1924.
Trek Pioneer Cemetery Tour
At 10:00 am on Saturday the 26th of October 2024 my colleague Tanja and I conducted a tour of the German Pioneer Cemetery and select graves of Ebenezer (now Walla Walla).
The origins of Halloween
Halloween ranks among the oldest traditions in the world, originating from the Celtic festival of Samhain, pronounced “Sah-ween”.
Birdlife Australia – Aussie Bird Count
This month from the 14th to the 20th of October the museum will be counting the birds found on our grounds as a participant in the Aussie Bird Count.
Father’s Day
Father’s Day, originated in the United States. The story starts in 1908 when a West Virginian church held a special service to commemorate 360 men (fathers) who had died in a mining disaster.
Astronomy Night
Our recent Astronomy Night was a great success. It was held on the 2nd of August, and we were treated to clear skies which was perfect for observing the stars.
Walla Walla Literary Institute
A meeting in 1910 approved the building of a Public Hall. Initially to be called a School of Arts, it was changed to the Literary Institute to qualify for a government subsidy.
Tour of the Church Precinct
One of the most rewarding parts of our research services is that we help many families connect with their ancestors and fill in the gaps in their family history.
Walla Walla’s Wendish Past
On the 3rd of July, 2024 we presented our grant funded local history project to the pupils of Walla Walla Public School.
Collections on Tour
On the 18th of June 2024 our curator Tanja and I attended the CSU Regional Archives in Wagga Wagga for the Museums of History NSW “Collections on Tour” presentation of Making Home: A Short History of Houses, Interiors and Gardens in NSW.

FAMILY HISTORY TOUR
On Easter Sunday, March 31st, we welcomed descendants of Agnes Wenke and Ray Smith for a tour of Walla Walla as part of their family reunion weekend.
STORYPLACE ROADSHOW WORKSHOP
The Storyplace Roadshow is a touring workshop program that supports the critical work of small museums – including object care and storage, significance assessment, storytelling and using our collections to engage school children and teachers.
BOOK SKILLS AND CARE WORKSHOP
On Monday 4th March 2024 I attended a book skills and care workshop at Stanley Athenaeum. The workshop was presented by Peter Mitchelson, a paper and books conservator from Grimwade Conservation Services.
Walla Walla & District Historical Society Lunch
On Sunday the 18th Of February, members of the Historical Society had lunch at Thistle Cafe to show support for Lorna and to continue the fight to save the historical bakery building, also known as Schirmers Bakery from demolition.

On September the 10th we welcomed Insight Tours for a guided bus tour of the district.
Significance Workshop
